Solar lighting was used for experimental public art installations in the Spring and for the winter holiday lights. In the spring, solar globes glowed after dark, and a few motion-sensor lights interacted with passers-by to pass on a solar announcement. For the Christmas season, bundles of solar-powered strings of green lights adorned select trees down Montague Street streetscape. Both atypical “green” lighting schemes -literally and figuratively- will increase in the coming years, and a comprehensive solar strategy is under study for the long-term planning of Montague Street.
